The Cycling Weekly/mbr Peak District Pioneer ride sets off from the Bakewell Showground & Agricultural Business Centre on the outskirts of the beautiful town of Bakewell.
Both routes leave Bakewell on the Monsal Trail and complete a loop around High Rake and Longstone Moor before rejoining the Monsal Trail, passing through the tunnels and then joining the Pennine Brideway (old railway line) at Parsley Hay then onto the limestone tracks at the back of the stunning village of Hartington. The routes split here with the massif completing a loop to Ilam & Tissington on a mix of lanes, paved & unpaved bridleways and moor roads. When the routes rejoin both take in a stunning limestone road over to the hamlet of Gotham, a mix of old railway and limestone roads follow before the return to Bakewell.
Quite simply Adventure Cross is a cross country journey by bike that incorporates a mixture of tracks, trails, lanes, bridleways & roads to create an interesting and challenging route over a variety of terrain and surfaces.
Our Adventure Cross routes have been designed to be 100% rideable on a cyclocross bike (gate opening & closing aside). The on/off road nature of our routes makes a crosser the ideal tool but, equally, a mountain bike can also be used.
